Bay Area Baby Photographer : One Year Old Twin Portraits

One year Portraits are one of my favorite subjects to photograph – and when it is with twins it is double fun!  I photographed Jaya and Phillip for their maternity and also for their newborn, so I was so eager to see them again at their one year old milestone.  These twins love to dance and take turns being smiley or cranky – as most twins do. So there is always someone in a good mood to capture.  And these two were always on the move!  Here are some of my favorites from the twin one year portraits in the san francisco bay area

Bay Area Baby Photographer – One Year Portraits for Identical Twins

I love one year sessions – but this one was double fun with twin boys!  The first challenge was keeping these two in the same vicinity of each other as they were both fast walkers at this point. The second challenge was remembering what footage I had of which boy as they are identical twins.  Since I have photographed these boys from birth it made it a bit easier and I have to say that I could honestly tell them apart during this session! And when I could not tell them apart -  I just remembered who was wearing the darker jeans! But honestly it is one of the nicer things about my jobs to get to know my clients over time so that I really get to understand the personalities and nuances of the kids and the dynamics of the family. When I am documenting families with twins (and I am honored to have many families with multiples), I make sure to get plenty of individual coverage of each child so they are documented as individuals as well as with their twin sibling.  Many of my clients turn their regular sessions into albums like this one taking advantage of our custom design services to create albums that are truly a work of art. With a metallic canvas cover and metallic pages – this 10×10 album is stunning in person.

Bay Area Baby Photographer – Modern One Year Portraits: Birthday Cake & Baby Boudoir?

BoudoirbabyBabies should not really be considered boudoir subjects as that sounds rather creepy, but when Alexis' Mom brought baby lace leggings for her professional one year portraits in studio and we added some fake pearls and gerber daisies, I cant help but wonder if we have created a new style where baby boudoir is adorable, fresh and fun! see for yourself

Then to celebrate her first birthday, we included a scrumptious, organic baby birthday cake (which was made by none other than my fabulous assistant Nicole Campion – did you know she is a pastry chef and can make the best cakes you have ever tasted for your next celebration?). Now, this was the first time that Alexis had ever tasted cake – and it is clear that she is a foodie at heart as she was all business!Birthdaycake-baby

Vineyard Grape Fairy – one year portrait session

One of my recent favorites from a one year session at the family vineyard in Livermore – tutus and grape vines were a great inspiration to create this vineyard grape fairy shot. Adding a vintage feel in post-processing worked well.

We also hauled a couch out to the vineyard (thanks Jim!) and had some fun family portraits with the couch outdoors as well.  Here is one from the front of their holiday card…

1 Year Photography Session in Golden Gate Park – Girl Time!

Yesterday I posted a one year boy session, and today I am posting a one year girl session that was shot at one of my favorite locations for this age – San Francisco Golden Gate Park.  As you can see from the images below, as a photographer I encourage families to bring a couple of outfits to show off the personality and different looks of the baby.   For my session with Ainsley and her family, we had the absolute pleasure to photograph the session on her actual first birthday! Of course Ainsley had no idea that it was her birthday, but it made for a special family day and great memories of when they look back at these images over the years.  On location, I shoot with all natural light for a fun, playful, candid result.

I loved the big print on Ainsley’s shirt/dress, so for the family shot I found some huge leaves which resulted in our “Jurassic Park” Family Shot, which I think is unique and quite cool!  I loved these images in black and white or sepia tone, though they look great in color as well and can be produced as prints both ways.
